The Coolin Curve®

The concept of chilling a bottle in ice traces back to Nero, Emperor of Rome.

Nearly two thousand years later the bartender set the same basic design on the bar in front of me. Nobody questioned it. It had always been done that way.

But I was already thinking about a different problem that day. Sitting at the bar with my father, my mind was somewhere else — on a sailing program for families facing cancer, and how I was going to fund it.

Then I saw it.

A curved bottom. Gravity pulling the bottle into full contact with the ice at every angle. No tilting. No adjusting. No wasted ice. The bottle chills itself.

The Coolin Curve® was born in that moment.

 

One observation. One question. One patent.

The same thinking that revealed what the mop was actually doing to floors revealed what two thousand years of tradition had missed in a bar. Different problem. Same principle.

We keep doing things that do not work because it is all we have ever known or seen.
